- Award winning American author Jordan Sonnenblick's high school creative writing teacher was author Frank McCourt, who's teaching influenced the young writer-to-be. As a teacher himself, Sonnenblick had one student whose brother had cancer and this inspired his first novel and a later title. His writing is full of humor and most of his books are targeted at teens. Although Sonnenblick writes mainly realistic fiction, he has written one series for older kids starring Dodger, a blue chimpanzee.
